the CERES villa, Arrifana
Our interim accommodation, until our bespoke field centre has been build, could be just another hostel, except it's not. We wanted to create an ambiance that is both tranquil and upbeat. The large, charming Mediterranean villa is centrally located between our terrestrial reserve and the beaches of Arrifana and Monte Clerigo in Arrifana, near Aljezur. The property has a large garden. The protected dune system and coastal footpath abuts the villa directly to the south. Several cafes and friendly, cool restaurants for the quick snack or the vital ´bica´ in the morning are just around the corner.

study :: seminar room and specialist library
The study room in the basement has enough space to accommodate 16 people for presentations and is fitted with a data projector, flip chart and overhead projector. A desktop computer, set up with scanner, digital drawing board, card reader and digital weather station has MS Office installed for PowerPoint presentations or serious data crunching. Our small library invites to read up on tomorrow’s topic.

socialise :: open plan kitchen and living area
The large open plan area features multimedia facilities, flat screen TV, DVD, a decent surround sound system with iPod dock, and fast wireless Internet. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes and cutlery. A big fridge freezer keeps the drinks cold. Gas stove and oven, cooking utensils, coffee maker and grinder, electric kettle, microwave, smoothie blender, tea towels, dishwasher and Bosch washing machine are provided. Massive handmade wooden tables and benches invite to eat and socialize together.

sleep :: twin-, double- and bunk rooms
The ground floor provides two large bunk rooms, each with a luxurious bathroom. Both bedrooms on the first floor have on-suite bathrooms and can be fitted as twin- double-, or bunk bedroom. Fresh cotton bed linen and towels are provided. There are also outdoor showers to rinse of wetsuits. The villa can comfortably accommodate groups up to 12-16 people. Larger groups can be setup in neighbouring houses.

relax :: garden and toys
A barbeque area, littered with deck chairs (made from reclaimed hardwood), the garden and a dart board provide a good set up for the obligatory after-work party to finish a long day in the field. Our two kayaks, bikes, fishing and snorkelling equipment, table football and various other beach toys are free to use for our guests. For a special day out have a look at our list of workshops. We also work together with local partners to provide you with discounted rates on a variety of exciting options to fill a “day off”.
